Real Deals: IKEA plans Grand Prairie store

Fort Worth Business obtains some of its Real Deals content through a partnership with Xceligent Inc., a commercial real estate research firm.

IKEA plans Grand Prairie store

IKEA has submitted plans to the city of Grand Prairie for what would be the Swedish retailer’s second North Texas store and fourth in the state.

Pending approvals, construction of IKEA Grand Prairie would begin next summer, with an opening in the fall of 2017, according to a news release. The company’s Texas stores are located in Frisco, Houston and Round Rock.

The Grand Prairie location would span 293,000 square feet on 32 acres along the eastern side of State Highway 161 and Mayfield Road, north of Interstate 20.

In addition to the more than 500 expected construction jobs, more than 300 employees would join the company when the new store opens, the company said. IKEA Grand Prairie would provide annual sales and property tax revenue for local governments and schools.

Lakeside at Coppell has been sold to Steadfast Apartment REIT. The 315-unit apartment community is located at 620 N. Coppell Road in Coppell. The acquisition brings the number of properties owned by the California-based firm to 25 nationwide. It owns 2,007 units in Texas. No other information about the transaction was released.


Staubus and Randall LLP has leased about 5,290 square feet of office space at 8401 North Central Expressway in Dallas from Piedmont One Lincoln Park. Staubus and Randall LLP, a family estate law firm, is located at the southwest corner of North Central Expressway and Northwest Highway.

Softlayer Technologies, an IBM company, has expanded its lease at Stanford Corporate Centre, 14001 Dallas Parkway in Dallas. With the 21,594-square-foot expansion, the firm now occupies 145,000 square feet. Jerry Averyt of Henry S. Miller Cos. represented the landlord, TCI Stanford LLC, while Clay Vaughn, Steve Rigby and Mike Cleary of CBRE represented the tenant.


LifeGift has expanded its lease to 6,934 square feet of office space at River Plaza in Fort Worth. Colt Power of NAI Robert Lynn-Fort Worth represented the tenant.

LA Fitness has leased 2,050 square feet at The Boland Center, 3400-3418 W. Seventh St. in Fort Worth. Rita Singleton of Haydn Cutler Co. represented the landlord.

Home Interior has leased 3,900 square feet at 5735-5741 Crowley Road in Fort Worth. William Roth of William Roth Co.-Dallas represented the landlord.

Legend Nails & Spa has leased 3,872 square feet at Cityview Centre, 4720-4736 Bryant Irvin Road in Fort Worth. Gretchen Miller and Eric Vickers of The Weitzman Group-DFW represented the landlord.

Vortex Doors has leased 3,200 square feet at Beach Street Business Park, 3645-3789 N. Beach St. in Fort Worth. Dick Ford of Dick Ford Co. represented the landlord.

Safari Auto Inc. has leased 3,000 square feet at 1115 Sturgeon Court in Arlington. Jordan Foster and Jim Maibach of Peyco Southwest Realty Inc. represented the landlord.

The U.S. government has leased 9,467 square feet at Matlock Office Center, 3030 Matlock Road in Arlington. John Lancaster of NAI Robert Lynn represented the landlord.

Gateway has leased 4,200 square feet at 120-124 S. Village Center Drive in Southlake. Steve Shrum and Paul Blight of Glacier Commercial-Dallas represented the landlord.

Platinum Bank has leased 1,659 square feet of office space in Southlake Town Square, 1256 Main St. in Southlake. Platinum Bank was represented by Travis Boothe of Cushman & Wakefield. Trey Smith and Ward Eastman of Cushman & Wakefield represented the landlord, Retail Properties of America.

Farmers Insurance has leased 12,500 square feet at Arbors at Brookhollow, 2201 E. Lamar Blvd. in Arlington. Fletcher Cordell and Kim Brooks of Transwestern-Dallas represented the landlord.
