JQ TO HELP DESIGN
NEW PAINT HORSE HQ
JQ is providing structural engineering design services for the new headquarters for the American Paint Horse Association (APHA) in the Fort Worth Stockyards Horse and Mule Barns area, according to JQ’s principal Carlo Taddei.
The APHA is the world’s second-largest international equine breed association, dedicated to promoting paint horses. Its new headquarters is scheduled to open in October.
“We have worked diligently to bring new life and purpose to many of these historic buildings in the Stockyards,” said Taddei. “The adaptive reuse of these structures helps to sustain the cultural and architectural legacy of the city’s past and creates new value and vitality for the community’s future. We are thrilled to continue to be a part of this redevelopment.”
JQ has provided structural design services for the assessment and rehabilitation on nine historic structures related to the redevelopment of the Fort Worth Stockyards.
The APHA headquarters will be in Barn G at 122 E. Exchange Ave. The 11,252-square-foot ground floor space will include offices, a theater, a retail gallery and a museum-like environment that showcases the barn’s existing clerestories, exposed ceilings, original clay tiles and exposed brick walls. The total renovation is 12,372 square feet, which includes the second floor mezzanine space.
VLK Architects is providing interior design services on the project and Majestic Realty Co. is the owner/developer.
THE WORK LODGE PLANS
FORT WORTH LOCATION
The Work Lodge, a shared workspace concept based in Houston, recently signed its first franchise agreement in Fort Worth and is gearing up for national expansion.
The Work Lodge of Fort Worth will be located at 710 S. Main St. and is set to open in March. It will occupy 12,655 square feet of the approximately 18,000-square-foot building.
It is the first of four locations that owner Heather Carlile would like to open in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Founded in 2015 in Houston, The Work Lodge offers a variety of all-inclusive workspace services such as private and virtual offices; coworking spaces and conference rooms with space for teams from 1 to 100; environments for solo entrepreneurs, start-ups and larger corporations; and designs featuring custom-made furniture, cul-de-sac hallway layouts and common areas.
Designed by founder and CEO Mike Thakur, The Work Lodge uses colorful walls and accessories layered on top of the brand’s signature Work Lodge White.
“As entrepreneurs and corporations search for flexible workspaces, Work Lodge is able to provide our members with a holistic approach by removing the friction of facilities and growth, freeing entrepreneurs and businesses to focus on building their dreams,” said Thakur.
The total initial investment to open a Work Lodge ranges from $300,000 to $1.5 million. The company is seeking franchise partners in new markets and markets where it is already present for multi- and single-unit agreements.
In addition to its workspace plans, The Work Lodge has launched The Gabriel Project, which helps fund programs focused around building children’s homes in India, fighting human trafficking, feeding those in need and providing micro-assistance to families and individuals with focused, unavoidable needs. The Gabriel Project is fully funded by Work Lodge and its partnering businesses.
