The modern furniture and home/office décor retailer West Elm will open in West 7th Fort Worth this summer.
Officials of West 7th Fort Worth said the furniture retailer will occupy a 10,502-square-foot space at the street level at 2869 W. Seventh St., at the intersection with Currie Street.
West Elm will feature Texas-based makers and designers who will sell their products in the store’s fall assortment as part of the retailer’s local program. A design lab will offer West Elm Style + Service.
The Woodmont Co., which is responsible for leasing at West 7th, sees the long-term synergy between a company such as West Elm and the West 7th development.
“The [nearby] Cultural District is truly special, and West 7th is proud to be an integral part of this community,” said Peter Jacobsen, senior vice president at Woodmont. “We believe the commitment by West Elm and our upcoming announcements of other new retailers and restaurants is further testament to the neighborhood’s evolution into one of the top urban, walkable shopping and entertainment districts in Texas.”
West 7th is managed by Vestar.
HONDA DEALERSHIP HEADS
TO I-20 IN WEATHERFORD
San Antonio-based Gunn Automotive Group has closed on a 10.4-acre tract in Parker County, keeping its plan on track to break ground by early June on its first Honda dealership in North Texas.
The site is part of a 23-acre tract with 1,000 feet of frontage along the south side of Interstate 20 in Weatherford. Gunn Automotive has scooped up 500 feet of freeway frontage between the exits for Old Dennis and Bethel roads. The rest of the site –12.6 acres and its 500 feet of frontage – is for sale.
Colton Wallis, senior associate in the Fort Worth office of Dallas-based Bradford Commercial Real Estate Services, and Nick Talley, senior vice president and managing partner, represented the sellers, Darryl L. Roberts and Rosemary Atwood, private investors from Weatherford. Jack Huff and Kyle Poulson of Transwestern Dallas negotiated for the buyer.
Gunn Automotive is planning a 30,000-square-foot building and showroom, according to plans at the Weatherford Economic Development Department. The proposed $10 million Honda dealership is expected to create nearly 80 jobs.
“The site is shovel-ready with utilities in place,” Wallis said. “It is a good piece of land for them with excellent freeway visibility.”
Gunn’s Honda dealership will be across the freeway from Academy Sports, Hobby Lobby and Weatherford Town Center. About one mile east is another major shopping area with brands including J.C. Penney, Kohl’s, Target, TJMaxx, Walmart and Home Depot.
“A few years ago, Weatherford started offering tax incentives to spur development,” Wallis said. “I grew up there so I know how much it’s changed. There are a lot of things happening.”
Gunn Automotive Group has been in business since 1955 when “Pop” Gunn opened his first showroom. It now serves San Antonio, Selma, Schertz, Boerne, New Braunfels and Live Oak.
