REI bringing outdoor retail to Waterside

REI is coming to Fort Worth’s Waterside development.

REI is coming to Fort Worth’s Waterside development, fulfilling its previously announced plan to become the mixed-use property’s second anchor store.

When open in spring 2016, the 24,500-square-foot location will become the fourth Texas store for the Seattle-based outdoor merchandise and travel retailer.

The trailside, riverfront location will serve more than 3,000 active REI members living in the area, according to the company. REI applauded Waterside’s commitment to community and sustainability, noting its planned trailhead with bicycle repair and air station, chilled filtered water for re-fillable bottles, an internal trail system, paddling activities and an urban garden.

Other nearby REI stores are located in Southlake, Plano and Dallas.

At full buildout, Trademark Property Co.’s Waterside will span 200,000 square feet of retail space and riverside restaurants, 800 multifamily residential units, two to three hotels, office buildings, and potential for additional high density single family housing, much of which will be situated along the Trinity River.

Planned retailers include Taco Diner, Zoes Kitchen, Blaze Pizza, Sleep Train, Massage Heights, Envy Nails and Amazing Lash Studio, as well as REI and Whole Foods Market.
