SCM Real Estate Services, Coldwell Banker merge

SCM Real Estate Services has merged with New York-based Coldwell Banker Commercial Alliance, a real estate brokerage firm focused on private investors and small to mid-cap businesses.

Coldwell Banker Commercial Alliance DFW is SCM’s new name, with its headquarters remaining in Arlington. But 2014 will see new offices in Fort Worth and Dallas.

“The benefits that our clients and our team gain by joining with Coldwell Banker Commercial Alliance are definitely worth rebranding our 21-year-old company,” said founder and President Gary Walker in a news release.

“Our name and available resources are expanding while our mission of making places better will remain the same,” said Walker, who will serve as managing principal of Coldwell Banker Commercial Alliance DFW.

Coldwell Banker Commercial Alliance DFW employs 30 commercial real estate professionals and support staff. Leading its Fort Worth office as a market director will be Theron Bryant, a principal at SCM, and is actively seeking office space. Carol Sosebee, also a principal of SCM and board member of CREW Dallas, remains chief operating officer and director of property management.

Launched in 2012 by New York-based Waterfall Asset Management, Coldwell Banker Commercial Alliance since has opened offices in New York, Denver, Orange County, Los Angeles and now, Dallas-Fort Worth. The Alliance is affiliated with Coldwell Banker Commercial.

Walker has nearly 30 years of commercial real estate experience, establishing SCM in 1992 as a full-service shop.

Since then, the firm’s agents have closed more than $100 million of acquisitions and dispositions and leased more than 9.8 million square feet for clients. They manage $50 million of commercial space, totaling 1.9 million square feet, and oversee sales and lease listings for an additional 2.5 million square feet of office, industrial and retail space.

 Walker also serves as managing partner of SkyWalker Property Partners and managing member of the $100 million Hangover Opportunity Fund LLC, an investment vehicle with commercial real estate holdings in Texas and surrounding states.

Coldwell Banker Commercial Alliance, a national commercial real estate brokerage company based in New York City, serves private investors, owners, and small-mid-cap corporate users of real estate.

CBC Alliance was founded by Waterfall Asset Management (Waterfall), an investment manager with approximately $3.0 billion in client assets under management. Waterfall has also acquired more than $1 Billion of small-balance commercial loans nationally for its clients.
