The comings and goings on South University Drive in Fort Worth continue.

East Hampton Sandwich Co., a Dallas company that’s expanding into Fort Worth, plans to open a 2,130-square-foot store in the WestBend development at 1605 S. University Drive.

It will replace Smashburger, which is closing, Kymberley Scalia, marketing director of Trademark Property, which owns WestBend, said.

East Hampton opened its first store to plaudits in 2012 at Dallas’ Snider Plaza shopping center.

The company opened its second restaurant opened in fall 2013 at the Shops at Legacy-Plano.

The company was recently named to a Top 21 Sandwich Shops in America ranking.

Hunter Pond, the 26-year-old CEO of East Hampton Sandwich, said the company chose the location because of its proximity to TCU, Colonial and downtown.

“My partners and I are thrilled to be in Fort Worth because of the booming atmosphere of the city,” he said. “The energy is great, and we have had countless requests to bring our sandwiches here.”
