Sundt completes Centennial Hall, adds to Fort Worth office

Sundt Construction Inc. and joint venture partner Trinity Hughes Construction recently participated in the dedication of Midwestern State University’s Centennial Hall, located at the corner of Hampstead Lane and Louis J. Rodriguez Drive in Wichita Falls.

“We’re proud to create an environment where Midwestern State can grow its healthcare program and increase its enrollment on campus,” said Bob Aniol, vice president and Dallas-Fort Worth Regional Director for Sundt’s Building Group, Texas District.

“I’m extremely proud of our team on this project. We really tried to maximize participation from the local workforce and had a consistent level of services from our key trade partners to finish this project,” Aniol said.

The $34.3 million project included a new 88,000-square-foot building to house several programs within the Gunn College of Health Sciences and Human Services, with updated facilities and space for dental hygiene, social work, radiologic sciences, respiratory care and the Wilson School of Nursing.

The new facility includes high-tech laboratories such as an energized radiology lab, respiratory care lab and a nursing simulation lab. The building will also house a dental hygiene clinic on the first floor. The joint venture started the project in 2017 and completed it last month to welcome students for the fall semester. Randall Scott Architects served as the architect for the construction manager at risk project.

Sundt Construction has added Maria Luna and Ryan Cardinale to its Fort Worth office.

“As our region continues to grow, it’s important to expand our teams with the right people,” said Bob Aniol, vice president and Dallas-Fort Worth Regional Director for Sundt’s Building Group, Texas District. “Both Maria and Ryan will bring skill and experience that will add value right away to our project teams.”

Luna will serve as a senior project engineer on the Southeast Arlington Recreation Center project. She has previous experience as a project engineer in California, South Carolina, Arizona, and Texas. Luna holds a bachelor’s in architectural engineering from the University of Colorado, Boulder.

Cardinale will join the Denton County Administration Complex Phase III team as a superintendent. After earning his bachelor’s degree from California State University, Fullerton, he obtained his construction management certification. Cardinale has been in the construction industry for more than 10 years and holds both OSHA 30 and 10 certifications.

Sundt has 50 years and nearly $3 billion of project work throughout Texas, with offices in Fort Worth, Irving, San Antonio and El Paso. The company recently completed the University of North Texas Biomedical Engineering Addition in Denton and is working on the Southeast Recreation Center in Arlington.
