Sur La Table opens Thursday in Waterside

Sur La Table

The long wait, for amateur cooks and professional chefs alike, will come to an end on August 11 as Sur La Table opens their doors for the first time from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.

I have to admit that I geeked out a little bit Monday night when I took a quick drive through the Waterside parking lot and saw their displays going up and all that tantalizing store merchandise being installed in its place at the long-awaited Sur La Table.

Just like the opening of REI earlier this year, brought out all the true adventurers (you know, the guy who wears their belay rope around town like a fashion accessory) as well as the wanna-be outdoorsy-types (who simply needed a new Klean Kanteen in their line-up), Sur La Table’s opening will surely be a Foodie Feeding Frenzy.

They stock all conceivable cooking appliances and equipment for the professional chef, as well as those kitchen do-dads and gadgets that the rest of us didn’t know we needed, but can’t live without. Plus, the French theme makes cooks at all levels feel even more proficient and stylish no matter what’s on the menu.

Sur La Table is famous for their tastings, recipes, hands-on cooking classes, and equipment demonstrations. They have four days of festivities planned to celebrate the grand opening of their newest Waterside location’s Grand Opening Weekend.

The official announcement read: “Join us for our Jacques Pépin celebration and enter for a chance to win a 24-Piece set from his new collection ($1,777 value). August 12-14: The celebration continues with tastings and a chance to win a $100 Sur La Table gift card each day.” Guests can also check out their schedule of hands-on cooking classes and get registered at 50 percent off.
