TCU team wins CMAA national award

HPM won its first-ever national Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) award for its work on the Texas Christian University Worth Hills Greek Village Phase 5 Residence Halls.

The company announced that its TCU team took top honors in the Education Construction Value Greater than $50 Million category at the CMAA Awards Luncheon. The annual awards recognize companies for outstanding achievement in the practice of construction management.

HPM, led by Senior Program Manager George Watts and Senior Project Manager Bill Wade, partnered with KSQ Design and The Beck Group on the $90 million project, which started in May 2016 and took 15 months to complete.

All seven buildings earned LEED Gold Certification from the Green Building Certification Institute of the U.S. Green Building Council.

Using lean construction methods, the team recovered from a four-week schedule delay, and ultimately delivered the project two weeks ahead of schedule, $5 million under budget, and without disturbing the adjacent residential neighborhood or occupants of the new TCU buildings situated around the perimeter of the site, the company news release said.

“We are really proud of the work this team has accomplished in our four years on campus, and how they’ve been able to integrate and be an integral part of the facilities team,” said James Adams, vice president of HPM’s West Region. “We are honored to receive this award and be recognized for our work to meet the schedule and come in under budget.”

HPM has been recognized by the CMAA North Texas chapter the last three years for its work at TCU, including Schollmaier Arena, Worth Hills Parking Garage, and the Greek housing project.
