Texas Health breaks ground on Huguley expansion

Construction began May 15 on a new 228,300-square-foot, $95 million hospital located immediately west of the current Texas Health Huguley Hospital Fort Worth South.

The new six-story facility will connect to the current 223-bed acute care hospital on the first floor.

Completion is expected in summer 2016.

The new energy-efficient hospital will feature a glass curtain exterior and will include private patient rooms more than double the size of the current rooms. Also on tap: wireless technology, a Women’s Services Department, an outpatient radiology center, a gift shop and a chapel.

The existing Texas Health Huguley Hospital will continue to house ICU, cardiovascular critical care, the emergency department and heart catheterization lab. The inpatient and outpatient behavioral health center also will remain in the current location.

Texas Health Resources and Adventist Health System, the original parent company of Huguley Memorial Medical Center, formed a joint venture company in May 2012 that owns and manages the hospital.

The Beck Group is the architect for the project.
