Texas Health Sports breaking ground in Allen

Construction will soon begin on the only one of its kind athletics facility in North Texas.

Texas Health Sports Medicine is breaking ground to its $10 million sports medicine facility on Wednesday, June 19 in Allen. The facility will house orthopedic surgeons, injury rehabilitation and performance training for athletes.

“We’re excited to welcome athletes of all ages as we build lasting relationships with families in the community,” said Jared Shelton, president of Texas Health Allen.

The project is a collaboration among Texas Health Sports Medicine, Athlete Training and Health, and Allen Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. The organization heads along with Allen Mayor Steve Terrell will join in the groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday.

When completed, the new facility will provide other services like 3-D motion lab for research, a full-length soccer field, an indoor training turf, strength and conditioning equipment, field and facility rental and expert coaches.

The new facility will be located south of Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Allen.

The new facility adds to Texas Health Resources’ recent expansion plans in Collin County.

The healthcare provider is halfway through the construction of the $68 million patient care tower at Texas Health Allen. The three-story structure will add 75 new medical beds and more than 108,000 square feet of hospital space.
