For real estate adviser Bernard Uechtritz, 2016 has been quite a year.
He led the record-breaking global campaign to sell the W.T. Waggoner Ranch in Vernon, which was listed at $725 million and sold in February to billionaire businessman and sports team owner Stan Kroenke. Shortly after that, he began marketing the Sandow Lakes Ranch in central Texas, which is yet another opportunity to demonstrate his ability to manage the sale of large, complex and challenging properties.
Uechtritz, still an associate at Sotheby’s International Realty Global Network, is an international real estate adviser for the Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s franchise in Dallas, as well as founder of the recently formed International Icon Properties.
Earlier in his career, he sold in three months what may have been his most challenging property – the stigmatized Calabasas estate belonging to the Menendez family – after it had been on the market five years with other brokers. Lyle and Erik Menendez were convicted of murdering their parents in 1989 in their other mansion, located in Beverly Hills.
In 2011, he sold the Camp Cooley Ranch in Franklin, Texas, for $28.5 million in a depressed market, on a day the Dow dropped by 500 points. At the time, it was the largest ranch sale by price in Texas.
Born in Australia, Uechtritz is an accomplished polo player, cattleman and equestrian. He was raised in Papua New Guinea and on horseback and competed in polocrosse, a fast-paced Australian sport best described as a mix of polo, lacrosse and rugby on horseback.
Uechtritz is a court-appointed receiver, real estate expert witness and global marketing consultant to wealth managers, real estate owners and sales companies worldwide. He has been called a “fixer” and considers himself a “go to, can do” expert. He has certainly proved that this year.
