Up to $8,000 in scholarships available for Texas civil engineering college students

The North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) is looking for future civil engineers. Do you know a civil engineering student who would like to earn a scholarship?

NTTA is now accepting applications for the Jere W. Thompson Jr. Scholarship, awarded annually to civil engineering college students in Texas and administered by The Dallas Foundation, a news release announced.

The deadline to apply for the scholarship is May 1, 2018.

The Jere W. Thompson Jr. Scholarship is a needs-based program that provides recipients up to $2,000 per semester with a maximum award of $8,000 combined for four semesters, the release detailed.

Recipients must be enrolled as full-time students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering at a Texas college or university, and must maintain a 3.0 GPA and demonstrate financial need.

The scholarship’s namesake is NTTA’s first Board of Directors chairman, and the scholarship was established in 2001. Over the years, NTTA and its partners have awarded more than $120,000 in scholarships.
