VLK Architects names associate and architecture director

VLK Architects has promoted Sarah Gardner, AIA, NCARB, to Architecture Director for the Fort Worth office, managing the daily operations of the architectural unit in the Fort Worth office.
She additionally has been promoted to associate.

The company said candidates for the associate ranks are individuals who are “self-motivated and consistently demonstrate the initiative, talent, and commitment of assuming additional responsibilities and leadership roles.”
“I am incredibly excited for this opportunity to work alongside our talented leadership team and staff as our firm grows, to ensure we continue to develop and foster a collaborative work environment, deliver successful projects, and provide exceptional customer service to our clients,” Gardner said in the news release.

She holds a bachelor of science in architectural studies and a master of architecture from Louisiana Tech and lettered four years on the Louisiana Tech softball team.
In her five years at VLK, she earned her license to practice architecture and a National Council of Architectural (NCARB) certification and worked on many of VLK’s most notable projects.

She serves as VLK’s Athletic Specialist and has held leadership positions with several chapters of the American Institute of Architects such as the 2013-2014 AIA Associate Director of the AIA Shreveport Chapter and the 2016 AIA Emerging Professionals Director for the AIA Fort Worth Chapter. She was also the 2016-2017 AIA Associate Director for the Texas Society of Architects.
“We are so happy to have Sarah in the role of Architecture Director for the Fort Worth office. Since her first day, Sarah has exhibited all the values that make VLK successful,” said Justin Hiles.
VLK Architects has offices in Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, El Paso and Houston, and provides architecture, planning, and interior design services to K-12, higher education, corporate, and institutional clients throughout Texas.
