The much-anticipated new brewery and tap room, HopFusion Ale Works, will finally open to the public in the next two weeks. Originally scheduled to open last spring, owners Macy Moore and Matt Hill found that setting up a brewery and ramping up production of kegs took more time than they had anticipated.

“We are just waiting on one more signature from the city, before we can officially open the doors,” said Moore. “We have everything ready to go, and it could be as soon as this weekend or early next week, but definitely within the next two weeks.”

HopFusion’s Signature Series includes four staple beers.

Hairpin is a hoppy low ABV session ale with dry, crisp taste and depth. Steampipe is a black rye India pale ale with dark roasted barley to complement its citrus backbone. And Fur Slipper is an imperial milk stout that weighs in at 9 percent alcohol, but with silky smooth notes of roasted hazelnut, dark chocolate and toffee.

Feisty Blonde is a honey vanilla blonde ale with aromatic orange blossom honey, a touch of pure Mexican vanilla and raw brown sugar. Feisty Blonde is an easy drinking and aromatic brew that had me hooked from the very first sip. In my opinion, this is the one that will put them on the map.

The 8,500-square-foot layout includes a 15-barrel brew house. They chose to light the shiny stainless equipment in a fun and artistic manner. Included in this, is a 4000-square foot taproom and a raised outdoor patio for tasting and kicking back with friends. “We will have live bands on the stage each weekend, and we have installed a 16 by nine foot projection television, as well, for movie nights and game day entertainment,” Moore said.

“We have 20 taps which will feature our Signature Series, plus a rotating selection of 15 one-off beers (eventually) including a few seasonals,” he said.

HopFusion has three seasonals ready to debut. Aheuvo is a hefty double IPA, weighing in at about 11 percent. “Zombie Creek is based on our Fur Slipper milk stout but we added honey, roasted pecans and oak to this one,” he said. “And, Les Sauves is a lovely French saison brewed with hibiscus leaves – we named it in honor of its bold coloring, which reminded us of the nineteenth century artistic movement that preceded the impressionists.”

HopFusion Ale Works has been quietly sampling their wares around town at events like the Fort Worth Food & Wine Festival. Kegs have been delivered around the metroplex to a few lucky restaurants and bars, including: Brewed, Luck at Trinity Groves, and Shipping and Receiving, just to name a few. “We are now available on tap at 23 locations and cans are next in our overall plan,” Moore said. “This project has been a long time in the making and we can’t wait to open our doors to the public.”
