Melt Ice Cream to be featured on Cooking Channel this Sunday

A local favorite was taken over by the Cooking Channel this week, when they came to town to film a segment at Fort Worth’s own Melt Ice Creams on Magnolia.

Look for it to air at 9 p.m. CST, this Sunday on the Cooking Channel’s Unique Sweets, which scans the country to highlight what is new and next.

Kari Crowe Seher has an artist’s eye and a gourmet palate. The former editorial photographer opened her Southside neighborhood ice cream shop in 2014 on Rosedale.

She and husband Mark Seher (who left his corporate job in the finance just over a year ago), relocated Melt this fall to a fabulous new space right in the middle of the action on Magnolia. The signature citron yellow and black color scheme made the move right along with them.

“We haven’t seen the segment yet ourselves,” Seher said. She is hosting a few family and friends for an intimate watching party. She was amazed by the process. “This was my first television photo shoot. One thing that surprised me was how many hours they actually shot in order to get our short segment ready for the show.”

Locals cannot get enough of this craft ice cream shop. Each batch of freshly-churned original recipes are brimming with natural ingredients.

Cooking Channel chose to highlight Melt’s unique and imaginative ice cream sundaes in episode 706 of Unique Sweets, named “Tasty Texas Treats,” which premieres this Sunday.

The Cooking Channel touts, “For fantastical sundaes with unusual flavors, Melt Ice Creams in Fort Worth doesn’t disappoint with choices like goat cheese, honey black pepper and roasted strawberries.”

On the menu this holiday season at Melt you might find, Merry Marshmallow – which is house-made vanilla marshmallows in chocolate ice cream, Snowflake – with white chocolate ice cream and house-made peppermint candy pieces, or Rudolph’s Dreams – featuring vegan dark chocolate and coconut milk with cranberry jam.

Other Texas treats featured in the episode both hail from Dallas. The sweet and savory creations at Hypnotic Donuts and Kate Weiser Chocolate’s bonbons and toffee with bacon will also take a star turn on the television show.

Over the years Melt has had some very successful collaborations as well. They often incorporate locally sourced ingredients and showcase some of best that other Fort Worth based entrepreneurs have to offer, like collaborations with nearby Rahr Brewery and Stir Crazy Bakery (which will be featured by Unique Sweets as well in an episode that premiere’s on January 1).

Patrons of Melt will be treated to a few new locally inspired flavors this month like: Cup of TX – made with Avoca Coffee Roasters noir coffee and Chocolate Chocolate – made with local chocolatier, Dude, Sweet Chocolate.

When Melt first opened, Seher envisioned a true neighborhood ice cream shop that would draw folks together and allow them to enjoy a moment of happiness with each other. Well…mission accomplished.

Melt Ice Creams are made the old-fashioned way with real, natural ingredients − a true “farm-to-cone” concept. Melt Ice Creams happy fans can taste the difference, and now, thanks to the Cooking Channel, the rest of the country will be exposed to how successful a unique sweet can be…when it’s done right.
