Hometown hero, Rahr & Sons Brewing Co., which led the way in Fort Worth’s craft beer movement, has racked up a lot of hardware during their twelve years in business − over 60 awards and a fair amount of those are glimmering bronze, silver and gold medals.
On November 5, the brewery will host its annual anniversary celebration by releasing a new commemorative beer − Zwölfjahre, which means 12 years in German.
The beer is an American Wheatwine, aged for 12 weeks in cabernet wine barrels with cherries. It is produced with a blend of German and American yeast and features a significant amount of wheat with hints of citrus hops. It will be available in 22-ounce bottles and on tap around Dallas-Fort Worth.
“Zwölfjahre will debut on tap at the brewery’s 12th anniversary extended tasting event on Saturday, Nov. 5 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.,” a press release said. “Attendees will receive a commemorative pint glass to sample a selection of more than 60 beers, including several rare and limited release varieties such as Bourbon Barrel Aged Regulator and 2014 Midnight Cab. The event will feature live music from local bands and food trucks.”
“Since opening in 2004, owners Fritz and Erin Rahr’s close-knit staff has grown to more than 30 members, and the brewery has expanded distribution from Texas into Oklahoma. Rahr & Sons has also become entrenched in the local community, providing opportunities for hundreds of nonprofits to fundraise at bi-weekly tasting events; raising more than $50,000 for charitable causes through its annual Oktoberfest 5K; and giving a portion of sales from its The Fort Worth beer to the USS Fort Worth Support Committee twice yearly.”
VIP tickets to the anniversary party are $55, which includes early access at 11 a.m., a t-shirt, food voucher and VIP area access with additional specialty beers. Regular admission is $20, which will allow access beginning at 12 p.m. and be limited to 1,000 pre-sale tickets. Tickets can be purchased at rahrandsons-brewing-company.ticketleap.com
