Salsa Limón new downtown location looks for October opening

Tacos will soon be taking over The Tower.

Popular Fort Worth taco joint Salsa Limón plans to open a downtown location at 550 Throckmorton St., the former home of Qdoba on the ground floor of The Tower. In a lease facilitated by real estate broker Jordan Johnson, Salsa Limón will renovate an approximately 2,600 square-foot space, with 97w serving as architect and Martinez Construction serving as contractor, Salsa Limón owner Milo Ramirez said.

He said the space will have a “modern” design that matches with the feel of downtown.

“The building is wonderful,” he said. “It has great bones.”

The downtown Salsa Limón will be nicknamed “Centro,” which means “center” in Spanish, Ramirez said. In addition to the restaurant’s traditional taco offerings, the downtown Salsa Limón will be the first location to feature a full bar serving alcohol-infused aguas frescas.

Ramirez said the restaurant should be open by October.

The downtown location is just one of several developments in what’s already been an eventful year for Salsa Limón. In July, the city’s Historic and Cultural Landmarks Commission voted to move Salsa Limón and its diner-style building at University Drive to the upcoming 276-acre River District development planned along White Settlement Road and the Trinity River.

Ramirez said Salsa Limón is also in early talks to open a restaurant in the horse and mule barns at the Fort Worth Stockyards.

“[We’re] doing the best we can with what we have, trying to continue to our tradition,” he said.
