Another Baker HR sends TCU past Texas 8-2, to B12 title game

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Luken Baker hit the go-ahead three-run homer in the fifth inning, Brian Trieglaff pitched three shutout innings of relief, and TCU reached the Big 12 tournament championship game with an 8-2 victory over Texas on Saturday night.

Baker’s third homer of the tournament, and seventh of the season, turned a 2-1 deficit into a 4-2 lead. TCU (41-15) added three more runs in the sixth and will play in the title game for the second time in three years. The Frogs’ opponent Sunday will be West Virginia, which eliminated Oklahoma earlier Saturday.

Texas (25-32) had beaten the Frogs 2-1 in the afternoon on Kody Clemens’ walkoff home run to force a rematch.

The Frogs collected 14 hits against seven Texas pitchers in the nightcap after managing six in the first game.
