Rangers put struggling lefty Derek Holland on 15-day DL

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) – Texas Rangers left-hander Derek Holland has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with left shoulder inflammation.

The Rangers made the move Wednesday, and recalled right-hander Luke Jackson from Triple-A Round Rock.

Holland (5-5, 5.20 ERA) has allowed 13 runs over 13 1-3 innings his past three starts. In the Rangers’ 4-3 win over Baltimore on Monday night, the lefty allowed 11 of the 23 batters he faced to reach base while going 4 1-3 innings.

Martin Perez (6-4) is scheduled to pitch in Holland’s spot Sunday against Boston. The Rangers also said right-hander A.J. Griffin will be activated from the 15-day DL to start Saturday against the Red Sox.
