RUNAWAY BAY – The lakeside golf course RB Golf Club & Resort, formerly known as The Club at Runaway Bay, will host a grand re-opening April 16-21, 2019.
Purchased by entrepreneur and avid golfer Daniel Cocanougher in 2018, RB Golf Club & Resort has undergone a major renovation to restore the course to its former glory when it was once rated as one of the best places to play in Texas by Golf Digest.
The first phase of the renovation for the 7,000 square-foot golf course was the planting of new champion Bermuda grass.
Tangible improvements were made to immediately make the course more playable: the sprinkler system was fixed, trees were trimmed, and canopies were raised for an instant 18-hole refurbishment, the resort said in a news release. A fitness center with treadmills, stationary bikes, cross trainers, rowing machines, and free weights was also added last fall, making it the only fitness center in Runaway Bay.
The new Lakeview Tavern & Grill will open next month with an extensive wine list and a new menu. RB Golf Club & Resort’s newly refurbished driving range and pavilion will also open in April, the release said. The pavilion will include a golf ball vending machine and lighting and for nighttime use with eight covered bays and eight uncovered bays.
To celebrate the numerous improvements made to the resort in the past year, RB Golf Club & Resort will host a weeklong grand opening fete.
Special events include wine tastings, special golf seminars, carnival games, Pop Up Putt-Putt, and more. The grand opening will conclude on April 21 with an Easter egg hunt with more than one thousand eggs hidden around the course for children to find.
