The Battle for the Iron Skillet, the trophy that stays with the winner of the game between the former Southwest Conference rivals in Dallas and Fort Worth. TCU is trying to finish its non-conference schedule without a loss while SMU is trying to get a win before starting American Athletic Conference play. The Horned Frogs are 13-4 against SMU since the SWC dissolved after the 1995 season.

KEY MATCHUP

QB Trevone Boykin and TCU’s new spread offense vs. SMU defense. The Mustangs have struggled against similar offenses already this season in three lopsided losses, but Boykin and the Frogs are coming off their second bye week in three weeks and could need some time to get into some kind of rhythm.
