Texas Wesleyan ranked 17th in preseason baseball poll

It may still be football season most places, but baseball isn’t too far away, and the Texas Wesleyan Rams will start the season as the 17th ranked team in the nation, according to the preseason edition of the NAIA Baseball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll.

The Rams finished are coming off a 46-16 season that saw them ranked as high as 14th nationally. The team went 2-2 in its sixth appearance at the NAIA National Tournament.

The 46 wins by the Rams was one win away from tying the program record set in 2017.

“We are excited about our preseason ranking. We are eager to get on the field this spring to compete for an opportunity to make our first trip to the NAIA World Series,” Rams head coach Robert Garza said. “Our pitching staff will be led by Gabriel Sequeira (lefthander, Cypress). Our ‘Airborne Attack’ will be led by, Michael Davila (catcher Waco). The players have done a great job establishing our ‘One Team, One Goal’ environment.”
