Amazon.com Inc. hopes to fill 400 newly announced positions at its customer fulfillment center in Haslet north of Fort Worth.

“This is great news for the community,” said Haslet Mayor Bob Golden in a news release.

“Just a few months ago, Amazon announced it was hiring 500 people to work at the fulfillment center. Today’s announcement shows that they are committed to the community and that their presence continues to move the city forward,” Golden said on Wednesday April 1.

The online retail giant has created more than 1,500 full-time jobs at its three Texas fulfillment centers in Haslet, Coppell and Schertz near San Antonio.

Since opening in December 2013, the 1.1-million-square-foot Haslet facility has expanded and added robots to assist human employees in organizing, processing and shipping products to customers.

Full-time Amazon employees receive competitive hourly wages and a benefits package, including health care, 401(k) and company stock awards. Amazon also offers regular full-time employees programs such as Career Choice, in which it pre-pays up to 95 percent of tuition for courses related to in-demand fields, regardless of whether the skills are relevant to a career at Amazon, the company pointed out.
