AZZ acquires Florida metal coating provider

Strengthening service capacity and expanding its geographic reach, Fort Worth’s AZZ Inc. has acquired a Florida-based metal coating service provider.

The company announced April 12 the purchase of all assets and outstanding shares of K2 Partners, a privately held corporation.

AZZ provides metal coating services, welding solutions, specialty electrical equipment and highly engineered services throughout the world.

The newest acquisition will bring AZZ about 75,000-square-feet of production space, which includes the Cimcon Finishing in Garland, north-east of Dallas.

The Garland facility performs powder coating and electroplating operations. The facility is to be renamed AZZ Powder Coating and Plating – Garland.

“The K2 facility in Texas is ideally located to increase our ability to service customers in Texas and into the Midwest,” Michael Doucet, Senior Vice President of AZZ’s Surface Technologies platform, said in a statement.

AZZ now has 44 sites combined in the U.S. and Canada.

Serving various industrial sectors, like, mining, highway construction, agriculture, energy and petrochemical refining, AZZ boasts a total market capitalization that exceeds $1 billion.

Shares of AZZ Inc rose 1.9% following the acquisition announcement Friday afternoon.
