BT Global Services of Irving is taking its cloud-computing initiative worldwide by launching BT Cloud Compute, allowing chief information officers more control in designing, building, buying and operating a cloud solution tailored to their specific needs. Cloud computing delivers services over a network. According to BT, the service allows CIOs to keep pace with shifting customer demand with “pay-as-you-go” cloud solutions accessible from any location and with consistent security and service levels. BT’s cloud infrastructure uses industry-standard secure data centers in the United States, Brazil, Colombia, the United Kingdom, Spain, Benelux, France, Italy, Singapore and Hong Kong, with service expected to begin soon from data centers in Germany, China, India, Argentina and Mexico. “As a company, we are serious about Cloud,” said Neil Sutton, vice president, Global Portfolio, BT Global Services, commenting in a news release. “Cloud is about more than technology; it’s about the service and the possibilities it can enable locally and globally in a reliable, trusted and assured way, helping CIOs find answers to the unique questions their market and regulations demand,” Sutton said. BT, a division of UK-based BT Group plc, is a communications services and solutions company serving customers in more than 170 countries. More information is available at www.btplc.com.
