FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Border officials say 30 new passport kiosks at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport will reduce waits for travelers returning from foreign trips.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection hopes the machines will help avert delays that stretched to four hours last summer.
Judson Murdock, CBP’s Houston field operations director, said Monday the machines also will free officers to focus on travelers.
D/FW is the latest of several U.S. and Canadian airports to add the automated kiosks, where U.S. and Canadian citizens can enter their passport information. More than 320,000 people have used them since their October installation.
D/FW plans to add 24 more machines for use by permanent U.S. residents and visitors from countries with visa-waiver agreements with the United States, including the United Kingdom, South Korea and the Netherlands.
