Deadline looming for Capital One, Business Assistance Center business plan competition

Small business owners will have the chance to win more than $50,000 in cash and in-kind services in a competition hosted by Capital One Bank and Fort Worth Business Assistance Center (BAC).

The Business Plan Competition begins July 20 and concludes Oct. 27. Registration is currently open and closes July 11.

Twenty-five businesses will be selected to participate. During the competition, competitors will spend weeks training and creating their business plans with BAC and other organizations like the Tarrant Small Business Development Center and small business adviser SCORE. Out of the 25 participants, three will be selected to participate in the final round on Oct. 27 at Texas Christian University.

The first place winner will receive $6,000 in cash, with the second place winner receiving $4,000 and third place winner receiving $2,000. The rest of the prizes will be in-kind services.

The competition, founded by BAC, Capital One and business coaching organization The Alternative Board, began in 2011 and takes place annually.

BAC is located in the James E. Guinn campus at 1150 South Freeway.
