Elbit Systems of America LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Elbit Systems Ltd., has been awarded two contracts, with the $14.1 million deals expected to upgrade the U.S. Marine Corps’ Bell AH-1W attack helicopter fleet.
One contract, totaling $11.6 million, sees Elbit provide helmet display tracker system kits on the aircraft. The helmet system is expected to improve flight safety by providing crew members better situational awareness with enhanced night vision, weapons sighting, and weapons control capabilities.
The second contract, totaling $2.5 million, will add tactical video data link technology to the helicopters. The system provides air crew information needed to detect, identify and quickly respond to threats.
“The HDTS (Helmet Display Tracker System) and TVDL (Tactical Video Data Link) are two more technologies Elbit Systems of America is deploying with the singular end result of protecting and saving lives,” said Elbit Systems of America President and CEO Raanan Horowitz. “The AH-1W is on the front lines in the battle against those who wish to harm America,” said Raanan Horowitz, president and CEO of Elbit Systems of America, commenting in a news release.
