Lockheed Martin announces $255M rocket contract, Grand Prairie involvement

Lockheed Martin Corp. has announced receiving a $255 million rocket production contract from the U.S. Army, with work planned for Grand Prairie and Camden, Ark.

The guided multiple launch rockets will be delivered to the U.S. Army, Marine Corps and Republic of Italy beginning in April 2015.

Grand Prairie is home to Lockheed Martin’s electronics systems and missiles and fire control segment.

“We are proud of the continued confidence our customers place in Lockheed Martin,” said Ken Musculus, vice president of tactical missiles at the firm’s missiles and fire control segment, commenting in a news release.

The rockets are all-weather weapons designed for fast deployment. They deliver a precision strike beyond the reach of most conventional weapons, according to the company.
