Mouser competition will 3D-print inventions in space

If the characters from Ice Age can make it to space, so can your inventions.

Mansfield electronic parts supplier Mouser Electronics and celebrity engineer Grant Imahara are launching a contest that calls for college students, engineers and inventors to design a device that will benefit astronauts on the International Space Station (I.S.S.). The winner will receive a 3D printer and consultation session with 3D printing manufacturer Made in Space.

As for the winning design – that will be sent to space to be 3D-printed on the I.S.S.

“Imagine how exciting it would be to see your design made in space,” Mouser President and CEO Glenn Smith said. “We are really excited to present this unique contest. We hope our wide range of electronic components will enable people to create whatever their imagination sparks.”

Imahara and former I.S.S. commander Chris Hadfield will be the judges of the competition.
