COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) — Gov. Rick Perry and information technology company Cognizant are announcing a multi-year grant to support to science, technology, engineering and mathematics education at Texas A&M University.
Cognizant President Gordon Coburn was also expected to announce new jobs in Texas on Monday.
The company said the educational grant will help ensure students graduate with the skills needed in the information technology industry. The announcement will take place at the National Center for Therapeutic Manufacturing.
Cognizant recently relocated its operational headquarters from New Jersey to College Station because of what the company said was a better business environment. The company employs 29,000 people worldwide, with 2,000 in Texas.
