The TECH Fort Worth IMPACT Awards honored a computer industry legend along with three area companies that are bringing innovative technologies to the market on May 14 at Texas Christian University. Dell Inc. founder Michael Dell was honored with a Legacy Award. Jennifer “JJ” Davis, who leads the global corporate communications team for Dell’s consumer, small and medium business (SMB) division and global brand, accepted the award. “The entrepreneurial spirit should live in any size company.” Dell, in its 30th year, is “doing for technology solutions what we did for computers,” she said.
Three TECH Fort Worth Acceleration Clients were recognized with a Spotlight Award: • E3 Water LLC is working on technologies to dramatically increase the quality and availability of water by integrating innovative water and wastewater treatment technologies into markets worldwide with their mobile wastewater treatment technology. The company moved to Fort Worth and has been working with University of Texas at Arlington. It now also is working in Washington, D.C. on projects for the Federal government.
• E-Mist Innovations specializes in disinfecting and sanitizing using proprietary, patented electrostatic technology. E-Mist received notification on April 14 that its patent has been approved. The company completed and funded its first round of Series A Preferred Stock with Cowtown Angels; and on May 1 launched its full Touch Point Healthy service model in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Started by a family in Goldthwaite, Texas, the company joined the TECH Fort Worth Incubation program during 2013.
• SurgeryLink is a HIPAA-secure coordination platform built exclusively for the surgical community. This platform offers time-saving communication and scheduling features that result in a reduction in communication errors that often lead to surgery delays and cancellations. This coordination process is much safer for patients, according to the company. SurgeryLink is in beta testing with a select group of providers and soon will be available to the surgical community.
The sixth annual event celebrated the clients and graduates of TECH Fort Worth programs as well as companies in which the Cowtown Angels, a program of TECH Fort Worth that brings together independent angel investors and early-stage companies needing capital, have invested. TECH Fort Worth outgoing Board Chairman Vernon Rew, an attorney with Whitaker Chalk, received the first Backstage Award, that honors behind the scenes players. Sponsors of TECH Fort Worth include the city of Fort Worth, the University of Texas at Arlington, the Fort Worth Business Press, Sabre, the University of North Texas Health Science Center, Lockheed Martin, Dell and the Neeley School of Business at Texas Christian University.
