Texas Instruments Inc. is unveiling what pundits call the industry’s most power-optimized small cell solution for developers of indoor enterprise Power over Ethernet and outdoor base stations. The Dallas company’s new system-on-chip technology is set to be introduced on Tuesday at Avren’s Small Cells World Summit in London, a telecommunications industry gathering. Texas Instruments touts its new KeyStone-based TC16630K2L as offering small cell developers a single hardware and software platform to address multiple indoor and outdoor use cases. “TI has demonstrated that it understands and is willing to respond to the recent challenges and requirements of our industry,” said Dan Picker, chief technology officer with PureWave Networks, a small cell solutions and compact base station developer, commenting in a news release. “That is why we have again chosen to leverage their latest solution in the newest members of our small cell product family. TI’s highly-integrated SoC (System on Chip) and accompanying software allows us to realize our most aggressive product visions, get to market faster, and provides us the flexibility to easily adapt our designs to various operator requirements within a very tight power budget,” Picker said.
