Silvercar, an Austin startup that launched in 2012 with the goal of shaking up the car rental business, is airing its first TV commercial starring former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman and “30 Rock” actor Judah Friedlander.
The commercial began airing on VICELAND, Vice Media’s new network and was produced by Virtue Worldwide and Pulse Films, two of Vice Media’s in-house creative agencies. The spot was filmed in Dallas.
The commercial features Friedlander and Aikman riding down an airport escalator together. In the spot, Friedlander tells Aikman he loves the whole hassle of renting a car, while the current Fox Sports announcer uses Silvercar and skips the line.
“I’ve been a fan of Silvercar since the first time that I used the service,” said Aikman in a news release from Silvercar. “I represent companies that I truly believe in, and with the amount of time I travel, I’ve realized that Silvercar is the best car rental service available. It makes my travels simpler and easier to navigate.”
2016 has been a very busy year for Silvercar, beginning with the launch of the Las Vegas market and a Series C funding announcement, led by Audi. (Silvercar offers only fully-loaded silver Audis as rentals.) In addition, the company has expanded into both the Brooklyn and Newark markets, while adding to operations at Love Field in Dallas.
Silvercar has locations in Austin, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Dallas, Denver, Miami, Phoenix, Fort Lauderdale, Chicago, Denver, Newark and New York (Brooklyn, Manhattan).
