TULSA, Okla. (AP) — The Tulsa County Cold Case Task Force and Tulsa Crime Stoppers are partnering to solve nearly 30 unsolved murders in Tulsa County.
Through the initiative, which was announced Thursday, the groups have set up offices in Tulsa Promenade Mall through September. The offices will be open to the public and will include informational paperwork about active cases.
“Every month we’re going to be featuring different partnerships that we’re working with to reach out to the community and give Tulsans a space to come talk and get more information about how to solve and fight crime,” said Jennifer Rush, executive director of Tulsa Crime Stoppers.
People are encouraged to stop by to speak with detectives and learn about the unsolved cases. A donation box will also be set up at the shopping center to help fund investigations.
“There are people out there who have witnessed some of these murders,” Sheriff Vic Regalado said. “There are people out there who have key information that can help bring closure to the families of these murder victims, and that’s extremely important.”
About 20 former detectives from a variety of local and federal law enforcement agencies are assisting with the effort. Rush said the group hopes the initiative will help victims’ families get closure.
“I personally have met many of the families of some and just seeing them, they don’t have closure and they won’t have closure until they figure out who did it and bring justice for their family members,” Rush said.
