Uber-like pickup/delivery service coming to AllianceTexas

Pickup

Pickup, an on-demand delivery service, will begin offering its services in Hillwood’s AllianceTexas development in north Fort Worth.

The Pickup offering shouldn’t be a surprise, Hillwood founder Ross Perot Jr.’s investment fund Perot Jain LP made an investment of several million dollars in the start-up last year. Pickup, based in Addison, was founded by Brenda Stoner, who has the title chief good guy at the company.

“We are very excited that Pickup was chosen as a trusted logistics partner for the AllianceTexas community,” said Stoner. “The integrated community Hillwood is continuing to develop at AllianceTexas is incredible. Where there is such strong economic growth, there are many opportunities to help consumers and businesses instantly move items. Our partnership will help facilitate this economic growth.”

Pickup moves anything that fits into the bed of a pickup. Customers request a truck through a smartphone app and the item is delivered anywhere within a 100-mile range. Trips cost a minimum of $45 and average $67.

“As we continue to grow, we look for new ways to make life easier and simpler for the people that live and work here,” said Mike Berry, president, Hillwood. “We all want the option to have things delivered as soon as possible when we buy them or need them moved. Pickup gives the AllianceTexas community a great solution for the last fast mile deliveries.”

Pickup’s drivers, called Good Guys by the company, are often military veterans, off-duty firefighters and other individuals who have been thoroughly vetted and trust verified. Good Guys regularly move everything from furniture and mattresses, to appliances, home improvement supplies, landscaping materials and more. The company makes regular runs with boxes to and from storage facilities for customers. The app-enabled Instant Delivery service also provides brick and mortar retailers with a fast and secure last-mile solution to increase revenue by maintaining a competitive edge.

Items transported by Pickup are insured for up to $20,000 and deliveries start at $45. A Pickup can be scheduled on the web, by downloading the app on iTunes and Google play, or by calling 800-560-2168.
