Walgreens and Sprint announced Sept. 13 plans to open 80 new locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth and Chicago areas by the end of the year. The collaboration between the two companies was announced earlier this year.

Sprint Express will provide wireless services and expertise with Sprint mobile tech specialists to Walgreens customers in the neighborhoods where they live and work, the companies said in a joint news release.

Services to be offered include advice on mobile services and products, including accessories; support, access and education regarding Walgreens mobile app and its features; and wireless services available to anyone via curated postpaid and prepaid plans/service options, including plans offered through Assurance Wireless, a federal government supported Lifeline Assistance Program.

Additional details on specific store locations and product and service offerings will be announced later this fall, the news release said.

“Our customers who have visited the existing Sprint Express test locations in Gainesville, Florida, and in the Chicagoland area are telling us that they really like the convenience of being able to meet their mobile phone needs, while shopping at Walgreens,” said Richard Ashworth, Walgreens president of operations.

As part of the expansion, Sprint will be hiring to fill a variety of positions. To find Sprint at Walgreens career opportunities please visit www.sprint.com/sprintatwalgreens. Sprint has been recognized as a Military Friendly Company and a Top Employer for Individuals with Disabilities.

“Walgreens and Sprint have an exceptional relationship,” Dow Draper, Sprint chief commercial officer, said in the release. “By expanding our Sprint Express locations we’re increasing Sprint’s presence in locations that are often a daily destination for consumers. This makes it easy and convenient for them to interact with us. We’re also excited to offer the Walgreens family of employees exciting, exclusive offers and explore other opportunities to reward Walgreens customers.”

Sprint served 54.6 million connections as of June 30, 2018.

Walgreens is one of the nation’s largest drugstore chains, interacting with about 8 million customers daily in sores on online, the news release said.

As of June 28, 2018, Walgreens operated approximately 9,800 drugstores with a presence in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
