3 dead as SUV plunges more than 60 feet off Dallas freeway

PLANO, Texas (AP) — Three people have died after their SUV went out of control on a Dallas-area freeway and plunged more than 60 feet from an overpass.

Police say the vehicle was on the Bush Turnpike Saturday evening when its driver lost control, swerved one way over three lanes, then three lanes the other way before rolling over. Then it hit another vehicle and tumbled from the overpass to a parking lot below.

Department of Public Safety Sgt. Lonny Haschel says one passenger was dead at the scene and two others died at a Plano hospital.

He says the driver was conscious and also has been hospitalized in Plano.
