TERRELL, Texas (AP) – Three people were killed when a pickup truck towing a trailer veered into oncoming traffic and slammed head-on into another pickup truck on Interstate 20 east of Dallas.

The crash happened about 10:30 a.m. Monday in Terrell, about 30 miles east of Dallas. Terrell police Capt. A.D. Sansom says the truck veered out of control and became airborne into the eastbound lane, where it slammed into an oncoming truck. Both trucks then rolled.

The driver of the trailer-towing truck, 55-year-old Lewis Rogers, and his passenger, 54-year-old Jerry Thomas, both of Monroe, Louisiana, were killed. Also killed was the driver of the other truck, 68-year-old Jerry Crawford of Princeton.

The crash closed Interstate 20 for about five hours.
