American Airlines launches AA.com African-American website

A. Lee Graham Reporter   American Airlines has launched aa.com/blackatlas, an African-American website replacing the stand-alone microsite BlackAtlas.com. The new site allows customers to learn about what the Fort Worth-based airline called its commitment to support different communities in which it does business. “We believe it is important to reach out to the diverse communities we serve,” said Rob Friedman, the airline’s vice president of marketing, commenting in a news release. “The site’s content will continue to evolve. Currently, we are working on expanding the site’s list of upcoming events and cultural destinations and will feature promotions and sweepstakes on BlackAtlas throughout the year,” Friedman said. American said it will drive its customers to the new page via email, home page banners and text links when sharing news or communicating promotions/sweepstakes and events, such as the recent American Black Film Festival.  More information is available at www.aa.com.   lgraham@bizpress.net
