Collin County teenage domestic violence suspect dies when crash ends chase

FARMERSVILLE, Texas (AP) — A 15-year-old boy sought in the beating of his mother was killed when he crashed his mother’s sport utility vehicle car into a flatbed trailer while being chased by police.

Police in the northern Dallas suburb of Wylie say officers went to an apartment complex Wednesday afternoon on a domestic disturbance call and found a woman bleeding in the parking lot. Police Sgt. Donald English says the woman told officers that her teenage son had beaten her with a baseball bat and taken her SUV.

Officers spotted and pursued the car north on Texas 78 into nearby Farmersville, where the youth veered into oncoming traffic and slammed into the side of a flatbed trailer loaded with chemical toilets, wedging the SUV beneath it. Police Chief Mike Sullivan said he was killed outright.

English says the mother was taken to Medical City Plano, where she was under intensive care. No identities have been revealed.
