A single lane of the newly constructed eastbound Spur 280 direct connector opens on Saturday, giving motorists additional room from downtown Fort Worth to northbound Interstate 35W.
The lane is expected to open at 10 a.m.
The single lane arrangement is temporary, with a second lane expected to open in mid-October.Â
The work is weather-permitting, with updated closure information posted daily on Twitter (@NTExpress) and Facebook (facebook.com/northtarrantexpress).
The construction work is part of the $1.4 billion North Tarrant Express 35W project, which includes a 6.5-mile section ranked 23rd among the state’s most congested roadways. Ranked sixth when construction began in 2013, the portion of I-35W stretches from north of Interstate 30 to north of Loop 820 and includes the I-35W/I-820 interchange in Fort Worth.
