Forest Park Blvd. closed (again)

Forest Park Boulevard will be closed for 10 days starting Aug. 21 so crews can place deck panels, curbs and other items for the new signature bridge over the existing roadway. Forest Park Boulevard will reopen Aug. 31, weather permitting. Detours: • Northbound Forest Park Boulevard motorists will be detoured to eastbound West 10th Street. Motorists will then turn left on Penn Street, left on West Fifth Street and back onto Forest Park Boulevard. • Southbound Forest Park Boulevard motorists will be detoured to eastbound West Fifth Street. Motorists will then turn right onto Penn Street, right on West 10th Street and back onto Forest Park Boulevard. The West Seventh Street bridge is a gateway between downtown Fort Worth and its Cultural District, and through a partnership of the City of Fort Worth and TxDOT, a new reinforced concrete “thru-arch” signature bridge will be constructed. TxDOT designed the bridge with six arch spans across the Trinity River to improve safety and pedestrian access, which will add to the architectural redevelopment underway in this corridor. The original bridge was built in 1913 and was extended in 1953 when the river was rechannelized. Additional project information is available online fortworthtexas.gov/seventhstreetbridge/
