Fort Worth freeway closures continue through weekend

Freeway closures that began on Thursday will continue through the weekend as roadway construction continues. The closures are as follows:

Friday May 13, from 9 p.m. to 10 a.m.

·         Closure of the direct connector from northbound Interstate 35W to westbound Loop 820. Traffic redirected to Basswood Boulevard.

·         Rolling closures on the direct connector from eastbound Loop 820 to northbound I-35W.

·         Closure of the direct connector from westbound Loop 820 to southbound I-35W. Traffic redirected to FM 156.

·         Rolling full freeway closures on northbound and southbound I-35W from 28th Street to 33rd Street.

Saturday May 14, from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.

·         Rolling full freeway closures on northbound and southbound I-35W at Papurt St.

Saturday May 14 from 9 p.m. to 10 a.m.

·         Rolling full freeway closures on northbound and southbound I-35W from 28th Street to 33rd Street.

Sunday, May 15, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

·         Closure of all lanes of northbound I-35W at 28th Street. Traffic redirected along the frontage road.

·         Closure of all lanes of eastbound and westbound 28th Street at I-35W (starting at 8 p.m.). Eastbound traffic redirected to Northside Drive, and westbound traffic redirected to 33rd Street.

·         Rolling full freeway closures on northbound and southbound I-35W from 28th Street to 33rd Street.

All closures are subject to cancellation due to inclement weather.

The road work is part of the $1.4 billion North Tarrant Express 35W project. It includes a section ranked sixth on the state’s most congested roadway list along 6.5 miles of I-35W from north of I-30 to north of Loop 820. That includes the I-35W/I-820 interchange in Fort Worth.
