Want to run or cycle the Chisholm Trail Parkway?

Here’s your chance. A concert and community runs and bike rides will mark the May opening of the 28-mile toll roaf, the planning committee said Friday.

“Community leaders throughout the corridor are working together to plan this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” Adelaide Leavens, chair of events for the opening, said.

May 9, the city of Cleburne and Cleburne Chamber of Commerce are planning a concert at the Buddy Stewart Park on U.S. 67 at the end of the Chisholm Trail parkway.

“Other activities are being planned for the late afternoon/early evening celebration,” the planning committee said in a release. “A well-known musical group will perform. Details will be announced soon.”

May 10, the planning committee will hold a a half-marathon starting at FM 1902 in Johnson County and ending at Edwards Ranch Road in the new Clearfork development, with participants being bused from a staging area to the start line.

The same day, there will also be a 5K roundtrip run from Edwards Ranch Road over the Trinity River, and a one-mile kids fun run starting and ending at Edwards Ranch Road.
