The main lanes of the northbound and southbound Interstate 35W will be closed for bridge construction staring June 19 at 9 p.m. until June 20 at 6 a.m. by the Texas Department of Transportation. The closure will include the Garden Acres Drive bridge.

The detour for these lane closures will be to take the frontage road and enter back on I-35W after Garden Acres Drive.

According to the City of Fort Worth website, the construction will take place if the weather permits and will alternate the directions of the main lane closures. The northbound side will close first and, after construction, reopen. Once the northbound side reopens the southbound side will be closed for construction.

The construction is a part of the Garden Acres Drive bridge project and is slated for completion in 2018 during the summer. According to the City of Fort Worth website, this is a $6.1 million dollar project that will add a westbound bridge with a left turn lane, sidewalks, and 2 through lanes. Improvements will also be made to the eastbound bridge by re-striping the bridge to have a left turn lane and 2 through lanes. They will also add sidewalks to the eastbound bridge. Finally, there will be right turn-bays added to both the northbound and southbound frontage road at the place where the roads intersect with Garden Acres Drive and new signals will be added.
