Fort Worth motorists can expect yet more freeway closures as North Tarrant Express construction continues. They are as follows:
Ongoing construction has prompted the following closures The following closures will go into effect this week:
Thursday Dec. 17 through January 31 (estimated), 11 p.m. to 2 a.m.:
·        There will be rolling full freeway closures on the direct connector from westbound Loop 820 to southbound Interstate 35W.
Thursday Dec. 17, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.:
·        There will be a closure of all lanes of northbound I-35W just north of Meacham Boulevard. Traffic will be redirected to Denton Highway 377.
·        There will be a closure of the direct connectors from northbound I-35W to eastbound and westbound Loop 820. Traffic will be redirected to Denton Highway 377.
·        There will be a closure of all lanes of southbound State Highway 121 at I-35W. Traffic will be redirected to Carver Avenue.
·        There will be a closure of the direct connectors from southbound SH 121 to southbound I-35W. Traffic will be redirected to Carver Avenue.
·        There will be a closure of all lanes of the southbound I-35W frontage road at Great Southwest Parkway. Traffic will be redirected to Mark IV Parkway.
Friday Dec. 18, 9 p.m. to 10 a.m.:
·        There will be a closure of the direct connector from northbound I-35W to westbound Loop 820. Traffic will be redirected to Basswood Boulevard.
·        There will be a closure of the direct connector from southbound I-35W to eastbound Loop 820. Traffic will be redirected to FM 156.
·        There will be a closure of all lanes of the southbound I-35W frontage road at Great Southwest Parkway. Traffic will be redirected to Mark IV Parkway.
Saturday Dec. 19, 9 p.m. to 10 a.m.:
·        There will be a closure of all lanes of the southbound I-35W frontage road at Great Southwest Parkway. Traffic will be redirected to Mark IV Parkway.
Construction blackout: In recognition of the upcoming Christmas and New Year’s holidays, there will be construction blackouts, or periods with no construction work, during the following periods:
·        Tuesday Dec. 22 at noon through Sunday Dec. 27 at 10 p.m.
·        Wednesday Dec. 30 at noon through Saturday January 2 at 10 p.m.
The work is part of the $1.4 billion North Tarrant Express 35W project, which includes a section ranked sixth on the state’s most congested roadway list along 6.5 miles of I-35W from north of Interstate 30 to north of Loop 820 including the I-35W/820 interchange in Fort Worth. The project includes reconstructing the main lanes and the addition of TEXpress managed lanes.
