Land’s End to supply American Airlines with new uniforms

Lands' End

Lands’ End Inc. (Nasdaq:LE), announced Tuesday it has won the contract as a the uniform supplier for American Airlines Flight Service, Airport Customer Service and Premium Customer Services. Lands’ End will outfit about 51,000 American Airlines employees, with an estimated 1.8 million apparel items.

In July, American Airlines announced it was changing uniform suppliers after employees complained the uniforms were causing reactions from hives to wheezing.

American told employees that it would not renew a contract with Twin Hill, a division of Houston-based Tailored Brands Inc., when the deal expires in 2020.

Lands’ End will partner with the American Airlines uniform committee and union leaders to focus on the design and product development process with the goal of conducting a wear test program by October 2018. Wear testers will identify any changes needed to improve fit, comfort and function before the final garments are produced and rolled out, planned to begin in late 2019, according to Dodgeville, Wisconson-based Lands’ End.
