Customer Appreciation Week to take place June 11-17
In 1968, Elizabeth Biggs brought traditional East Coast style pizza to Fort Worth and Tarrant County when the first Mama’s Pizza opened on East Rosedale Street directly across from Texas Wesleyan University, a news release detailed.
Biggs became known as “Mama” while she managed the Rosedale restaurant for 18 years. The moniker stuck, and “Mama Biggs” became an east side legend.
Owner Chris Farkas and his father, Frank, grew the business and eventually operated numerous locations across North Texas until the oil and gas bust and the savings and loan crunch of the late 1980s, the release explained
After Farkas’ sudden death, his godson Jordan Scott, 27 at the time, inherited the Berry Street location of Mama’s Pizza, and has since grown the business to six locations, three corporate locations and three franchise operations.
To thank its customers for 50 years of support, Mama’s Pizza will be offering rollback pricing specials for one week in June at all six restaurant locations.
Mama’s Pizza 50th Year Celebration Week will take place Monday, June 11 through Sunday, June 17 and will feature the following specials:
— Monday, June 11 – $5 medium one-topping pizzas (all day)
— Tuesday, June 12 – $10 large (16”) one-topping pizzas (all day)
— Wednesday, June 13 – 50 percent off order (excluding lunch buffet)
— Thursday, June 14 – 50 cents for order of breadsticks (all day)
— Friday, June 15 – $5 lunch buffet, including drink + tax (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.)
— Saturday, June 16 – $15 Mamas-sized (20”) two-topping pizza (all day)
— Sunday, June 17 – Two large (16”) one-topping pizzas for $19.68 (all day)
New options added to Mama’s menu in the past few years include thin-crust pizzas coupled with “light” cheese to reduce carbs and calories; gluten-free pizza crust, alfredo sauce pizza; and
new toppings such as grilled chicken with barbecue sauce, fresh spinach, fresh basil and chopped tomatoes.
In addition to pizza, Mama’s menu includes cheese sticks, dinner salads and sub sandwiches.
Mama’s has set the standard for pizza in Fort Worth and Tarrant County, winning over 300 awards since opening its doors.
